Police are urging residents to be vigilant after two cars were seen in suspicious circumstances on a farm in Dorchester.

The vehicles were a black Volkswagen Golf with the registration H*07*MY and a grey Mitsubishi Shogun with the registration N**3DRW.

A spokesman for Dorset Police Rural Crime Team said: "These vehicles were sighted in suspicious circumstances on a farm in the rural Dorchester area and occupants were interested in scrap metal.

"If these vehicles or other vehicles are seen acting suspiciously, please gather as much information as possible such as the registration number and descriptions of the driver and any passengers and if it's safe to do so please do take a photograph, don't put yourself in danger to do this.

"Please contact Dorset Police immediately by calling 999 if the vehicle or occupants are seen committing a crime. For non-emergency call 101 or dorset.police.uk or via [email protected]

"If you wish to remain anonymous, please contact Crimestoppers Rural Crime reporting line by calling 0800 783 0137 or visit crimestoppers-uk.org

"If you are a farm or horse watch member and would like a farm or horse watch sign, please contact the Rural Crime Team by email, [email protected] and they would be happy to dispatch some signs to you. Please include in the email your name, address, quantity of signs and please state which signs you would like, either farm or horse watch."
