A polytunnel at a community farm in Poundbury has been damaged with a knife.
Sometime around January 30, an offender used a knife and made large slits in the plastic all the way around.
It is estimated to cost around £600 to repair.
A spokesman for Dorchester Police said: "We know that young people had been using it as we found all their empty bottles of alcohol and homemade bongs strewn all over inside.
"This is a community run project with an aim to get together to explore ways of living more sustainably and building a community through sharing growing space, tools, knowledge, ideas and work, and harvesting produce together.
"They welcome and encourage people to come and enjoy the community space - when we come out of lockdown.
"This took a lot of hard work from volunteers within the community to set up.
"We think it is really sad that someone has caused such mindless and unnecessary damage."
If anyone has any information, contact police on 101, email [email protected] or report it online quoting incident number 55210018920.
Residents are also encouraged to report any suspicious activity in that area.
