Purple Office, the leading co-working space in Poundbury, Dorchester, will be raising funds for local charities with a new 'Cowork for a Cause' scheme.

This innovative initiative aims to bring together the local business community for a day of co-working and networking, with the added benefit of raising money for good causes.

The first event, raising funds for local charity Weldmar Hospicecare, will be held on Wednesday, May 31 from 9am to 4pm with the event thens set to be repeated on the last Wednesday of each month.

The first three months will raise funds for Weldmar Hospicecare and a new charity will then be selected.

Local professionals are invited to experience the Purple Office shared workspace – voted the Best Place to Work in the recent Dorchester Business Awards – without the need to sign up or book a session online.

Instead of the regular session cost, attendees are encouraged to donate to Weldmar Hospicecare via an on-site donation. Complimentary pastries, tea, and coffee will be provided to all participants.

Fiona Hansford, fundraising lead at Weldmar Hospicecare, said: "We are delighted to be working with Purple Office on this fantastic new initiative and are looking forward to seeing members of the local business community coming together to co-work and network.

"As a charity, we rely heavily on support from our local community, and all funds raised at this event will go towards specialist care for adults in Dorset who have a life-limiting illness and support for their loved ones."

This event series will also offer a unique opportunity for individuals who have not yet experienced the Purple Office co-working space to explore its facilities and work alongside like-minded professionals, all while contributing to a worthy cause.

James Hart, owner of Purple Office, said: "We invite freelancers, entrepreneurs, remote workers, family and friends, and anyone looking for a flexible workspace to try out our co-working space and join the 'Cowork for a Cause' event series.

"Mark your calendars for May 31, June 28 and July 26, as we aim to raise money for Weldmar Hospicecare over a three-month period, before welcoming a new local charity on board."

Following on from the July 26 event, Purple Office plans to continue its commitment to supporting local charities by rotating the featured charity.

Mr Hart added: "This approach will enable our co-working space to broaden its impact and make a difference for various organisations within the community.

"By partnering with a diverse range of charities, we aim to raise awareness for different causes, foster greater collaboration and connection, and create a lasting positive impact on the lives of those in need.

"We believe that by embracing this initiative, Purple Office will not only provide a welcoming and productive environment for professionals but also serve as a beacon of community engagement and support."
