Dorchester businesses are being invited to decorate their premises with sunflowers this summer, to help raise funds for the Special Care Baby Unit at Dorset County Hospital.

Following an overwhelmingly positive response to last year's sunflower campaign, organised by Discover Dorchester and Dorchester Town Council, businesses are once again being asked to back the idea.

This year there will be two competitions – for best dressed shop window, and a new sunflower cake competition.

The response from last year's Summer of Sunflowers was overwhelmingly positive – so we're back for another year. This year we will be raising money for Dorset County Hospital's Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU).

Shops and businesses are challenged to decorate their shop windows with a fantastic sunflower display between July 21 and September 1, while Dorchester's cafes are invited to create a limited-edition sunflower cake for sale during the first two weeks of August (or more). Your cake must include a sunflower in its ingredients and/or decoration.

To get your business involved, or to request a cash box for donations, contact Connie Hollings on [email protected] by Saturday, July 1.
