A teenage boy was reportedly assaulted and robbed of his clothes and mobile phone in Dorchester town centre on Saturday afternoon.

Police are investigating a reported robbery and asking any witnesses to come forward after the incident on the afternoon of Saturday, February 25.

The victim, a 13-year-old boy, was in the town centre with three friends when they were approached by four men, two of whom were wearing balaclavas.

The men spoke to the group for about 30 minutes in Bowling Alley Walk before they reportedly turned on the victim, who was allegedly punched and kicked before demands were made for him to strip the clothing he was wearing.

A mobile phone and items of clothing were stolen.

Following enquiries, a 14-year-old local girl was identified and will be interviewed in connection with the offence. An investigation to identify the other individuals involved remains ongoing.

Police Constable Matthew Campbell, of Dorchester Police, said: "I am appealing to anyone who witnessed this incident and has not yet spoken to officers, or knows the identifies of those involved, to please contact Dorset Police."
