Twenty-nine Covid-related deaths recorded in January across the Dorchester area

There were 29 Covid-related deaths in the Dorchester area in January, according to figures released by the Office of National Statistics (ONS).

Its interactive map shows the number of deaths in the area from March 2020 until January 2021 where Covid-19 was mentioned as a cause of death on the death certificate.

The map reports there were eight deaths in Dorchester and Poundbury, five deaths in Dorchester east and 16 deaths in the Charlton Down, Cerne Abbas and Puddletown area, which covers Cattistock in the west, Middlemarsh in the north and Tolpuddle in the east.

Overall, there have been 31 Covid-related deaths in Dorchester and Poundbury, six deaths in Dorchester east and 26 deaths in the Charlton Down, Cerne Abbas and Puddletown area.

Two Covid- related deaths were recorded in the Chickerell and Chesil Bank area, which covers Litton Cheney, Abbotsbury, Portesham, Chickerell and the villages in between.
