Work has started on assessing where new electric vehicle charge points could be installed in Dorset.

Highways portfolio holder councillor Ray Bryan says a start has been made on the survey – but admits there is still some way to go before it is completed.

The work will look at potential problem areas, including any potential lack of grid capacity.

Said Cllr Bryan: "One of my concerns at the moment is that there is a big move towards hydrogen vehicles coming through, car manufacturers are looking at it now. We need to make sure, whatever the methods of power, we provide as many facilities as we can in partnership with other stakeholders."

Lyme Regis councillor Daryl Turner said he worried about matching charge units with need warning that too many could lead to other problems, in the long-term.
