Dorset Council has cleared the planning application validation backlog

Dorset Council has cleared the planning validation backlog, with applications now being validated within a few days of receipt.

The authority has also brought together planning data from five former district councils onto one planning database. The final phase of migration work is due to be completed in the new year.

The former military hospital in Dorchester's Grove industrial estate

The casting vote of a planning committee chairman will result in an historic former military hospital in Dorchester being converted into five flats.

Councillor Sherry Jespersen used her personal vote to stop a recommendation from Dorchester councillor Stella Jones to reject the scheme – and then used her casting vote to give the project approval by a one-vote margin.

The moules and frites at The Club House

I wasn't aware that The Club House in West Bexington offered moules and frites on a Thursday evening and only found out recently so I had to try it out.

Alongside its normal menu, there is also a choice moules with three different sauces - Thai, lemongrass, green chilli and coconut broth, mariniere and 'Nduja' and fennel seeds, as well as a trio of Dorset or Cornish oysters.
