A FORMER solicitor's office near the Top o' Town roundabout in Dorchester could soon be converted into residential flats.

If approved by Dorset Council, the proposal would create one one-bedroom flat and two two-bedroom flats, continuing a trend of offices in the area returning to domestic use.

Among recently agreed decisions, Dorset Council granted permission for a change of use at 9 High East Street, allowing the ground floor to become residential in association with the existing accommodation above.

Elsewhere, 41 South Walks Road will see a single-storey rear lean-to infill extension, while 55 Manor Road has been cleared for a new side porch.

In Kingsbere Crescent, plans for a single-storey front extension have also been approved, and at 5 Caters Place, works carried out to a retaining wall and landscaping – along with timber steps and landing – have been formally retained.

Two new homes are on the horizon: a two-storey dwelling with off-road parking at 38 St Georges Road, and a single property at 2 Wessex Road, both receiving full planning consent.
