Join the climate conversation in Dorchester as part of a global day of action and justice.

As the vital COP26 conference goes ahead in Glasgow, the Dorchester Churches Together ecology group has organised the event on the day climate activists and groups unite around a common goal - to demand governments and corporations limit global temperatures to 1.5C and deliver real solutions to the climate crisis.

The climate conversation will be held around the Town Pump in South street on Saturday, November 6 from 12noon.

Town crier Alistair Chisholm, who has just won national champion for the 11th time in Hastings, Kent, will urge people to come together.

Dorchester mayor, councillor Gareth Jones, will talk about the council's climate emergency response.

There will be a two-minute silence and people will then be able to view stands and take part in activities and conversations with a number of organisations, including Transition Town Dorchester, the Quakers and Christian Aid.

Val Potter, chairman of the Churches Together ecology group, said the event is important in joining with others around the world at the time of the COP26 negotiations.

She said: "The changing climate is already affecting us all, especially the poorest people on earth, and we need to make sure that the global politicians take urgent action now to protect the plant and the lives of all our children and grandchildren."
