Trainee / Assistant Quantity Surveyor

  • Location: Dorchester
  • Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
  • Salary: Competitive (dependent on qualifications and experience)

We are seeking a motivated and forward-thinking Trainee / Assistant Development Quantity Surveyor to join our Clients commercial team. This role is ideal for someone at the start of their career with a relevant BTEC HNC or Degree level qualification, or someone with some experience and knowledge of the construction sector.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Develop build cost budgets for new sites and monitor/report actual costs against the budget.
  • Prepare bricklayers' prices and carry out sub-contractor tender comparisons.
  • Measure quantities to check sub-contractor prices against pre-agreed schedule of rates.
  • Compile material take-offs from plans and assist with the compilation of tenders.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly forecasts/cashflows.
  • Maintain records and documentation associated with sub-contracts.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Relevant BTEC HNC or Degree level qualification in a related field, or equivalent experience in the construction sector.
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work within a team and independently.
  • Motivated to learn and progress within the company.
