AN Armed Forces Flag Raising Ceremony will take place at County Hall, Dorchester, on Monday, 24 June at 10am.

The event has been organised to mark the Armed Forces Day on 29 June.

The Ceremony will be hosted by the Vice-Chair of Dorset Council, Cllr Les Fry, and is a significant event that honours service men and women, both past and present. It's a chance to express respect and appreciation for the vital role the Armed Forces play in defending our nation, both at home and abroad.

Dignitaries, including His Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant, Mr. Angus Campbell CVO, the High Sheriff of Dorset, Mr. Anthony Woodhouse, and the Mayor of Dorchester, Cllr Robin Potter, will be in attendance, along with other dignitaries and members of the Armed Forces and Associations.

The ceremony will feature speeches from various individuals, including Military Personnel from the Royal Navy, Army, and Royal Air Force.

Dorset has strong ties to the Armed Forces, with serving personnel, veterans, and their families being integral parts of our community.

Many towns and villages in Dorset rely on servicemen and women, both economically and socially, while they are actively serving and after they retire.

The ceremony is open to the Armed Forces Community, veterans, and residents, providing an opportunity for everyone to come together and pay their respects.

Dorset Council has signed up to the Armed Forces Covenant which shows our commitment to armed forces past and present, and their families, in Dorset.

Everyone is welcome to attend.
