Schoolchildren and staff get into the spirit of World Book Day

Today (Thursday) is World Book Day, and although it is different from previous years, many children across Dorchester will be taking part.

The charity event encourages pupils to dress up as their favourite fictional character and every child in full-time education is given a voucher to spend on books.

The aim of the annual day is to promote reading for pleasure, offering every child and young person the opportunity to have a book of their own.

Staff and pupils at The Prince of Wales School are getting into the spirit and dressing up today, as well as St Osmund's Middle School.
