Agincare's CEO has been recognised as an influential voice and champion of the care industry.

Raina Summerson has been included on Home Care Insight's inaugural Power List in the Voice of the Industry category, which recognises and celebrates adult social care's most influential leaders.

She has been praised for showing "unrivalled compassion, dedication and clear-thinking to lead Agincare's response to Covid" protecting some of the most vulnerable in society, as well as a 3,500 strong workforce. She also "strengthened communication with clients, their families and with staff to ensure they had the latest details on government guidance, but she also listened and acted on concerns".

Since joining the Dorset-based care provider in 2004, Raina has helped it grow into one of the largest independent providers of care after it started with just one care home in Weymouth 35 years ago.

Raina also works with the Home Care Association and other national bodies to Lonny for improved terms and conditions for the workforce and driving up standards in the social care sector.

Along with colleagues, she was invited to give evidence to the Government's Health and Social Care Select Committee last year as part of its investigations into the future of social care, and is regularly invited to join industry discussion panels and events on current issues, as well as representing Agincare and the care sector in local and national media

Raina said: "The Power List award is a tremendous reflection on the incredible Agincare teams we have across the country, all of whom are passionate about delivering high quality care in their community.

"Adult social care reform, including long-term funding and a workforce strategy, is absolutely crucial for care workers, and ultimately the people they are dedicated to supporting and caring for."

Agincare regularly contributes to the conversation around social care, including The Health Foundation's review of the Government's Covid response, Carers Week 2021 report and LaingBuisson UK Healthcare Workforce and Recruitment Market Report.
