Police officers continuing to investigate an assault on a teenage boy in Dorchester are appealing for two witnesses who came to the aid of the victim to come forward.

It was reported that between around 7pm and 10pm on Monday, 12 February 2024 a teenage boy was assaulted by another boy, who was known to him, at Dorchester South train station. He was reportedly punched and held near to the train tracks.

Two members of the public intervened and gave the victim a lift home in a red car but he did not get their details.

Police Constable Jacob Conachie, of Dorset Police, said: "Fortunately the young victim did not suffer any serious injuries as a result of this incident, but it did leave him understandably distressed and it has taken some time to obtain full details from him.

"Following further enquiries, I am now looking to identify the two people who came to the assistance of this teenage boy on the evening of Monday 12 February 2024 at Dorchester South station and kindly gave him a lift home.

"I would urge these people to please make contact with us so we can take their account of what they saw."

Anyone with information is asked to contact Dorset Police at www.dorset.police.uk or by calling 101, quoting occurrence number 55240026697.

Alternatively, independent charity Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously online at Crimestoppers-uk.org or by calling Freephone 0800 555 111.
