Staff and pupils have been celebrating after their school was recognised as part of a national campaign.

The Prince of Wales School in Dorchester was contacted by the 'Wave Of Thanks' campaign to say thank you for their hard work, especially over the pandemic.

The school's 'Wave Of Thanks' nomination reads:

"I am a trainee teacher at this school. The school has the most wonderful ethos, setting high expectations for pupils' learning experiences, and staff consistently go the extra mile for children and their families.

"The school is a resourced provision for pupils with physical disabilities. Inclusion is at the heart of everything they do and they are a shining beacon for how school should be for pupils no matter their background.

"It has been a privilege to train at this school, I have been made to like a member of staff, given huge opportunities to increase my experience and teaching practice. Staff are friendly, kind and warm.

"During the partial school closures, the school lent laptops, tables, chairs, provided learning resources weekly and food parcels to families who needed them. There were daily live streamed assemblies and a wealth of online teaching. The ELSA delivered vast amounts of emotional support to pupils and their families.

"The school's motto is #InspiredToLearn and as a trainee four weeks off qualifying I could not have been more inspired. I will always look fondly on my time at POW and cannot think of a more deserving staff to receive these goodies."

The 'Wave Of Thanks' campaign is a joint effort between Twinkl, YPO and Mind to say thank you to the education community.

Leon Smith, chief customer officer at Twinkl said, "Despite the difficulties they have faced, educators have gone above and beyond to offer the very best teaching, care and support during the pandemic. It's so important to show them how thankful people are for their ongoing support and commitment to their pupils."
